About the Course
Overview
The ‘Digital Proficiency Course (DPC)’ is a 45-hour MQA approved training programme delivered and administered by the Mauritius Digital Promotion Agency (MDPA) and accessible to all segments of the population.
In a bid to meet the digital challenges of the present era and adapt to the digital-led economy, it has become imperative for Government through the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation (MITCI) and the MDPA to come up with an up-to-date and innovative digital literacy training for the Citizens.
The main aim behind this nationwide ICT training is to enable our Citizens to become digitally proficient and be empowered with latest digital skills so as to embrace the digital transformation and tap the most of the 21st Century Technologies.
Course Contents
The course contents and materials for the DPC have been developed by the MDPA in collaboration with the University of Mauritius (UoM) and comprises the following modules:

- Computer Memory / Computer Storage
- Basic Troubleshooting Concepts
(ii) Office Productivity Tools
- MS Office 365

- Open-source Productivity Software / Cloud-based Productivity Software
(iii) Online Essentials
- World Wide Web & Internet
- Cyberspace / Internet Culture / Cyber Ethics
- Internet Browsers/ Electronic Email / Networking
- Online Collaboration Tools
- Blogs, Wikis & Forums / Social Networks
(iv) Digital Transactions
- Digital Government / Digital Services

Course Delivery
The training is delivered using the face-to-face/blended and online mode. For face-to-face mode, the MDPA makes use of the Computer Labs of State Secondary Schools (SSS) across the island after school hours and during week-ends for greater accessibility to the population. A dedicated and user-friendly e-learning platform (Moodle) has been developed in collaboration with the University of Mauritius (UoM) to host the course contents and give easy access to the participants. The e-learning platform with interactive multimedia elements caters for better learner interaction and understanding.
A Certificate of Course Completion is issued to all participants who complete the DPC training.
DPC Examination
Participants who wish to get certified in Digital Proficiency have the possibility to opt for the online/computer-based exam organised and conducted by UoM. An exam-based certificate is then issued by UoM to successful candidates.
Only participants who have followed the DPC training are eligible to sit for the DPC Examiniation.

Learning Outcomes

- To communicate effectively through online collaboration tools such as emails, video conferencing applications and social media.
- To understand digital transactions, digital government, e-commerce, internet and mobile banking.
- To expose learners to digital citizenship skills and to the various online services provided by Government.
- To recognize the various cybersecurity, privacy and ethical issues a digital citizen is exposed to and how to mitigate those risks.
- To make the Citizens aware of the various ICT and cyber laws in Mauritius and how to conduct responsibly and ethically when engaging with ICT.
Course Fee
The Digital Proficiency Course with e-learning facilities is accessible at a very affordable and discounted fee of Rs 1,100 (launching price) per participant.
Exam Fee
Exam fee is offered at a subsidised rate Rs 1,000 per candidate.
Prerequisite/ Eligibility
Participants should be able to read and understand basic English.
